I started out in computer graphics in 2001, shortly after completing my Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. After a brief introduction to Direct3D 8 and programmable shaders, I've been hooked ever since. Nearly ten years later, I have completed a Masters Degree in Computer Science and continue exploring the depths of Direct3D. I spend much of my development time working on my open source D3D11 rendering engine, Hieroglyph 3 (http://hieroglyph3.codeplex.com), and I also maintain a developer's journal at GameDev.net. I also enjoy writing about rendering techniques and have contributed to several shader programming books including the Shader X series, the Game Programming Gems series, and the GameDev.net collection. I also had the pleasure to contribute to the online book project "Programming Vertex, Geometry, and Pixel Shaders", which is available on GameDev.net as well. Professionally, I work in the automotive industry and am currently living in Germany on an assignment.
