David Jones

I like to explore Microsoft technologies by developing working examples, publish them, and then dissect them into blog posts. An early adopter of Microsoft IoT technologies and Application Development.

Of late has been tracking the development of Azure IoT Hub from the devices, cloud and application development perspectives. Recent focus has been upon embedded devices running .NET and connecting them to the cloud. This has recently lead to development of a "bridge" between such devices , and Azure IoT Hubs and Google! Also have continued with web development, especially with Blazor. Currently developing teaching materials with a junior school focus for embedded devices and the cloud.

Have been involved with computing since the early 70s! Formerly an academic in Computer Engineering at RMIT University in Australia where he developed courses and supported student projects involving the Microsoft software stack from the bottom to the top. In this period he gained specific skills in the Windows Embedded area becoming an Windows Embedded trainer around which he developed student undergraduate courses and projects. Also during this period, he was invited to deliver a number of presentations in the embedded area on behalf of Microsoft to academics and industry. A great achievement then though was mentoring the 2005 Windows Embedded Student Challenge winners. Has delivered industry training and provided industry project consultancy. Now going solo.

Co-author of "Professional Windows Embedded Compact 7. Keen to assist others through consultation, training and development of useful software development tools.
