Biography

I am a technology professional with 23 years’ experience designing, building, delivering and running applications and systems utilizing a range of software development technologies.

I am passionate about application and system development, contemporary software delivery practices (DevOps, CI/CD), cloud delivery and infrastructure automation (DSC, Chef, ARM, Terraform) with a focus on the Microsoft family of tools and technologies (Windows Server, Microsoft Azure). I have a strong background in Windows PowerShell and Desired State Configuration as well as several other DevOps/CI/CD technologies (AppVeyor, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Git/GitHub, GitLab) providing DevOps and infrastructure automation for both on premises and cloud based IaaS and PaaS environments.

I am an active contributor to the Microsoft PowerShell and PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC) community, as well as maintaining several of my own open source PowerShell projects and a blog where I post regular PowerShell and DevOps related articles.

Among my key strengths is my ability to coach and excite others, supporting them to grow and deliver value more effectively.

I developed my early engineering skills working in the healthcare industry over the last 16 years. Designing, developing and supporting applications for a range of hospitals in New Zealand, USA and the UK.

More recently I moved into the insurance industry as a Technical Specialist in Application Development and Continuous Delivery Practice Lead. This fueled my excitement for modern development practices and cloud architecture and allowed me to broaden my focus in to contemporary delivery practices and digital transformation.

I am excited about what the future of cloud and software delivery will bring and I'm always looking forward to future challenges and exciting opportunities to learn and broaden my capability.
