David Brown

David is a Trainer and consultant with dbrownconsulting and an International Consultant with the World Bank. He specialises in analysis, reporting and visualisation using Power Platform, especially Power BI.


David Brown is a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) with over 22 years experience building business solutions for clients. He fell in love with Excel very early on in his career, building financial and reporting models for countless clients and teaching his unique methodology for quickly mastering the software to enhance productivity. 

He quickly embraced the new Self Service Business Intelligence tools from Microsoft (Power Pivot, Power Query, M & DAX Languages) when launched in 2010 and then now with Power BI and Azure, Power Apps and Flow to automate business processes.  He was privileged to be the sole African at the prelaunch of power bi in Israel in Feb of 2015.

He is passionate about training and hosts monthly webinars in Power BI and Excel for the past four years. He is passionate about driving adoption of Power BI and hosts the most active Power Platform community in Nigeria via Telegram. He also spends his time mentoring leaders to manage new communities across Nigeria.

He is a regular speaker at events especially universities where he intends to imbibe best practices in analytics in the young before they begin their work life. He hosts monthly meetups and is the PUG (Power BI User Group) Leader for the PUG in Lagos, Nigeria. He also recently launched an Annual Data Analytics Bootcamp that takes about 30 young leaders through a free 4 day immersive course in Data Analytics to help them become more employable by kick starting their Data Analytic careers.

His teaching methodology is to show the community how to transit to the cloud (Azure especially) using their most common prior knowledge of data (Excel) as the basis for transiting to Power BI and its many use cases. David also curates e-learning content for He has over 150 videos in his firms' youtube channel covering his diverse experience in financial analysis, analytics, visualisation, talent development, financial modelling, Power BI, Excel and more.

To unwind, he likes to take his motorbike for a spin and is also a racer.
