Erland Sommarskog is an independent consultant who is based in Stockholm. He first got in contact with SQL Server in 1991, although it the first years it said Sybase on the box. When he moved to a new job in 1996, he moved over to the Microsoft side of things. For a long time he worked for a small company in Stockholm, but when that company was bought by a large IT corporation in the beginning of 2007, he opted to go solo and become independent. His hope is that his business will be about mentoring, to help other implement their solutions better.

He was first honoured the MVP award in SQL 2001, and he is still very pleased to be part of this great community.
