I am a results-based project, portfolio, and risk management specialist, with a focus on strategy implementation and the use of technology to improve projects outcomes.

During the past 20 years, I was responsible for over 80 major projects in several countries in areas of oil and gas, mining, infrastructure, and IT, including the establishment of a portfolio of over 20 billion dollars of implemented projects.

I am Executive Director of the Brightline Initiative a coalition between Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Project Management Institute (PMI), Agile Alliance, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Lee Hecht Harrison and Saudi Telecom, with MIT, University of Tokyo, Danish Technology University and the Blockchain Research Initiative as research partners. Brightline's mission is to provide a knowledge and networking platform that delivers insights to bridge the gap between strategy development and implementation.

I am also the managing partner of PMOtto.ai. PMOtto is a cutting-edge virtual assistant that combines the power of chatbots with machine learning algorithms to improve project results.

In 2009, I was the first Latin American to be elected Chairman of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and I had the opportunity to write fifteen books and a dozen or technical articles, published in several languages, which have sold over 300,000 copies worldwide.

Between 2012 and 2016, I was the first director of Infrastructure and Project Management at the United Nations (UNOPS). My work focused on the delivery of humanitarian and infrastructure projects in dozens of fragile countries, such as Haiti, Afghanistan, Iraq and South Sudan.

I am a chemical engineer with a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from UFMG, and a Ph.D. candidate in civil engineering by the UFF. I also hold the most prestigious certifications in the project, portfolio and risk management worldwide.
