A little about Bradley Ball

I love learning and expanding my understanding of how the world works and what it takes to be successful. A good laugh, time with friends, and having fun with my children are my favorite things. You, Dear Reader, are probably are more interested in what I've done technically.

I started out my life as a developer writing classic ASP code for a variety of websites, and doing graphic design as well. During college I became responsible for the various websites that managed the clubs for Western Carolina University ending up as the Webmaster for the Dean of Student Affairs.

I graduated from Western and became an Intranet developer for YKK AP America Inc out of Austell GA. It was there that I was first introduced to SQL Server and .NET.

A couple years later I became a defense contractor for the US Army. I completed my certifications in SQL 2005 and lead the upgrade of our main application from SQL 2000 to 2005, participated in many programing efforts, and was part of the essential staff team for our COOP/DR efforts.

In 2009 I joined the Executive Office of the President of the United States as the Sr. SQL DBA and managed all databases/cross platform for the EOP. I also won an award for exemplarily service to the Office of the President and received a letter of praise for the President's Chief of Staff.

In 2012 I joined Pragmatic Works and work with fellow SQL Server MVP's Adam Jorgensen, Brian Knight, Devin Knight, Jason Strate, Jason Horner, Robert Cain, Wendy Pastrick, and John Welch providing world class Consulting, Training, and Tools to the IT Community.

In 2016 I joined Microsoft and the Premier orginization.

For years I have been an avid community speaker. I've spoken at many SQL Server User Groups across the United States, from FL to CA and up to NH. I have spoken at SQL Saturday's in FL, AZ, CA, MA, NC, TN, and Puerto Rico. Some of the conferences I've spoke at are Dev Connections, the PASS Summit, SQL Live 360, and SQL Bits.

I've written two books and was the lead author for the Professional Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Administration title.
